Customizable Epoxy Flooring for a Busy Industrial Space
This 87,000 sq ft facility called for a flooring solution that could stand up to the rigors of an industrial environment, and offer much-needed functionality as well. The original plan was to install a 2‑part epoxy floor system, complete with blue safety lines. The system they specifically asked for was new to us but we were happy to adapt our strategy to their request, collaborate with their technical team, and install their ideal floor.
Just before we began the process, however, the product rep told us that their system was actually being changed and that a third coat would now be required. We revised our plan once again and quickly got to work. Serving in the industrial painting and flooring industry calls for flexibility, and our experienced team makes last-minute changes and tight deadlines possible.
What to Know About Epoxy Coating Installation
Shot Blasting, Concrete Patching, and Diamond Grinding
Every enduring industrial flooring project begins with thorough preparation, ensuring that the surface has the correct profile and is in a healthy, solid condition.
- Using our dust-free shot blasters, we created an adequate profile. This effective, self-contained method completely strips the floor’s surface of existing coatings and residue in an environmentally-friendly way.
- The corners, edges, and tight areas were then fine-tuned with our diamond grinders. An added benefit of using this equipment and technique is that the grinding process opens the pores within the concrete, allowing it to be more receptive to the epoxy coatings.
- We patched the holes with a fast cure filler and filled the joints with a flexible concrete epoxy.
Increasing Efficiency with Traffic Aisles
Like a city, industrial environments need to allow for smooth, clear traffic flow. Otherwise there is an increased risk of safety hazards, poor efficiency, and loss of space through lack of organization. We painted blue aisles in this facility after installing their epoxy floor system, helping to better organize foot traffic, machinery traffic, and more.
