Cus­tomiz­able Epoxy Floor­ing for a Busy Indus­tri­al Space

This 87,000 sq ft facil­i­ty called for a floor­ing solu­tion that could stand up to the rig­ors of an indus­tri­al envi­ron­ment, and offer much-need­ed func­tion­al­i­ty as well. The orig­i­nal plan was to install a 2‑part epoxy floor sys­tem, com­plete with blue safe­ty lines. The sys­tem they specif­i­cal­ly asked for was new to us but we were hap­py to adapt our strat­e­gy to their request, col­lab­o­rate with their tech­ni­cal team, and install their ide­al floor.

Just before we began the process, how­ev­er, the prod­uct rep told us that their sys­tem was actu­al­ly being changed and that a third coat would now be required. We revised our plan once again and quick­ly got to work. Serv­ing in the indus­tri­al paint­ing and floor­ing indus­try calls for flex­i­bil­i­ty, and our expe­ri­enced team makes last-minute changes and tight dead­lines possible.

What to Know About Epoxy Coat­ing Installation

Shot Blast­ing, Con­crete Patch­ing, and Dia­mond Grinding

Every endur­ing indus­tri­al floor­ing project begins with thor­ough prepa­ra­tion, ensur­ing that the sur­face has the cor­rect pro­file and is in a healthy, sol­id condition.

• Using our dust-free shot blasters, we cre­at­ed an ade­quate pro­file. This effec­tive, self-con­tained method com­plete­ly strips the floor’s sur­face of exist­ing coat­ings and residue in an envi­ron­men­tal­ly-friend­ly way.
• The cor­ners, edges, and tight areas were then fine-tuned with our dia­mond grinders. An added ben­e­fit of using this equip­ment and tech­nique is that the grind­ing process opens the pores with­in the con­crete, allow­ing it to be more recep­tive to the epoxy coatings.
• We patched the holes with a fast cure filler and filled the joints with a flex­i­ble con­crete epoxy.

Like a city, indus­tri­al envi­ron­ments need to allow for smooth, clear traf­fic flow. Oth­er­wise there is an increased risk of safe­ty haz­ards, poor effi­cien­cy, and loss of space through lack of orga­ni­za­tion. We paint­ed blue aisles in this facil­i­ty after installing their epoxy floor sys­tem, help­ing to bet­ter orga­nize foot traf­fic, machin­ery traf­fic, and more.
