Concrete Grinding and Sealing - Creating a Durable, Attractive Industrial Floor
Are you looking for a valuable, cost-effective way to preserve your concrete floor? We recently provided concrete grinding and sealing services for a client of ours, and because of all that this process offers we thought it would be worthwhile to share the project photos and information. Perhaps this treatment would work well for your own commercial or industrial floor!
This particular project involved three primary steps:
- We removed all glue and mastic — This floor was covered in a sticky residue. Stage one involved grinding the floor down in order to create a smooth, receptive surface that was free of stickiness.
- Grinding - The grinding process that we just mentioned involved using three progressively finer cuts with our diamond grinders. This is very much like using incrementally finer sandpaper during a wood-working project, only on a much, much larger scale.
- Sealer - We then applied a Landmark Urethane Fortified Acrylic Sealer/Finish by Perma.
The grinding process, as you might imagine, can sometimes create dust issues. Thanks to our fantastic, state-of-the-art equipment, we were able to keep dust to such a minimum that the other construction trades at work around us could keep moving undisturbed.
Why Apply Sealer to Your Concrete?
Despite the fact that concrete is a durable material, it does need to be maintained and preserved. One of the primary benefits of a concrete sealer is that it will fill the porous surface, building a moisture and stain-resistant, protective finish. As an added benefit, it leaves a smooth, wet look for your floor that is a definite upgrade from marred, tired concrete.
Do You Need to Seal Concrete After Grinding?
Though concrete is exceptionally durable, it’s not a maintenance-free asset. Concrete sealer is essential in this upkeep. It allows the concrete to become moisture and stain-resistant. Additionally, it leaves a smooth, wet look for your floor making it more aesthetically pleasing.
