How Kaloutas Got Our Name

No mat­ter how you came to hear of us, from see­ing one of our vans on the road or from a per­son­al rec­om­men­da­tion, you may won­der, ​“what is a Kaloutas, what is that all about?” Well, Kaloutas is actu­al­ly named after its founder, Jim Kaloutas, who start­ed the com­pa­ny in Peabody, MA in 1987. He and his father set out to cre­ate a com­pa­ny that would pro­vide excel­lence in paint­ing projects with client-focused, rela­tion­ship based ser­vices, and the rest is history.

30 Years Of Excellence

In the last 30 years, the com­pa­ny has grown from two employ­ees to more than 80, and from one loca­tion to five in Mass­a­chu­setts, Rhode Island and New Hamp­shire. Kaloutas has weath­ered a lot of changes, mov­ing from res­i­den­tial to indus­tri­al and com­mer­cial paint­ing and inno­vat­ing as need­ed to grow and prof­it despite dot com busts and econ­o­my slumps.

We’ve also added an indus­tri­al floor­ing divi­sion, offer­ing cus­tomized com­mer­cial floor­ing sys­tems for the busi­ness­es of New Eng­land. Jim Kaloutas under­stands the impor­tance of inno­va­tion and has expand­ed the busi­ness beyond the Greater Boston mar­ket alone to ​“con­tin­u­al­ly cre­ate oppor­tu­ni­ties for the peo­ple who work so hard for us.”

Although Kaloutas has expe­ri­enced impres­sive growth in the last three decades, one thing hasn’t changed: our focus on peo­ple and rela­tion­ships. This focus shows in the val­ue we place on our grow­ing staff of paint­ing con­trac­tors as well as the lengths we’ll go to serve our clients.
