If you look at the first two pho­tos above, you might feel like you sud­den­ly trav­eled back in time a cou­ple of decades. To put it light­ly, the need for an update in this Burling­ton church’s func­tion hall was cer­tain­ly evident.

Tak­ing it a step fur­ther than just style, the sur­faces were also worn from heavy use. This is, after all, a place where peo­ple con­gre­gate for dif­fer­ent pur­pos­es and events through­out the year. Com­mon areas like this one tend to get tired quickly!

Our goal was cer­tain­ly to add some fresh style to the floors and walls, but also to make prod­uct selec­tions that would real­ly last and meet the ongo­ing and ever-evolv­ing needs of the space.

What Is Epoxy Floor­ing Used For?

Epoxy floor­ing is ide­al for indus­tri­al and com­mer­cial facil­i­ties. When prop­er­ly main­tained, they last for decades. They can with­stand high pres­sure from com­mer­cial equip­ment, machin­ery, and foot traf­fic. Main­te­nance and clean­ing are sim­ple and they pro­vide an aes­thet­i­cal­ly pleas­ing appear­ance giv­ing your cus­tomers the impres­sion that you care about your facil­i­ty and doing busi­ness with them.

Epoxy Floor­ing with Flake Broad­casts — Dura­bil­i­ty Meets Mod­ern Style

We installed a Florock 100% solids epoxy basecoat with two full macro flake broad­casts. After that we topped off the sur­face with a Florospar­dic Zero, high-wear, clear urethane.

Try say­ing that ten times fast!

In case you aren’t flu­ent in floor­ing, this is essen­tial­ly a well-cho­sen, high-qual­i­ty epoxy coat­ing that has a flake broad­cast added for an attrac­tive, cus­tomized look. Epoxy sys­tems like this are tough as nails, resis­tant to mois­ture, and incred­i­bly easy to clean and main­tain. In fact, the church specif­i­cal­ly said that they are thrilled to no longer need to wax their old tile floor, or clean the por­tions that used to be cov­ered in car­pet. Just an occa­sion­al sweep and mop will do the trick!

We also installed a three-coat, sol­id-col­or, resinous sys­tem through­out the bath­rooms, and will be adding anoth­er high-per­for­mance coat­ing from Floro­crete in the kitchen fol­low­ing an equip­ment update.

Inte­ri­or Painting

We used a Ben­jamin Moore eggshell paint for the walls, and a Ben­jamin Moore semi-gloss on the trim. Both of these options are durable and attrac­tive, but also have the added ben­e­fit of being easy to wash and maintain.

Also, isn’t it amaz­ing how much larg­er the space looks? Light­en­ing the inte­ri­or col­ors in a room can have an incred­i­ble impact.
