Con­crete Mois­ture Issues and Installing a New Mois­ture Con­trol System

In this case, our Low­ell client con­tract­ed us to install a new, 1÷4” trow­eled epoxy mor­tar floor in the man­u­fac­tur­ing area of their facil­i­ty. Their goal was to cre­ate a long-term solu­tion by invest­ing in a floor sys­tem that was tough enough to with­stand the demands of their environment.

Before we installed the sys­tem, how­ev­er, we strong­ly advised our client to per­form mois­ture test, just to be sure that there were no hid­den issues that might com­pro­mise their floor­ing. The results revealed ele­vat­ed mois­ture lev­els in the slab, mak­ing a mit­i­ga­tion sys­tem essential.

While this might seem like a set­back, it’s actu­al­ly a pre­ven­ta­tive mea­sure that will ulti­mate­ly save them a huge amount of pro­duc­tion time and resources. After all, a proac­tive mea­sure always costs less than a reac­tive response.
