Troubleshooting an Industrial Flooring System for a Lowell Manufacturing Facility
When you contact our Industrial Flooring team for services, we know that you are trusting us to not only deliver a high-value product, but also become a real ally throughout the process. This means that we apply our industry insight to help troubleshoot any potential issues that might negatively impact the value that your flooring solution delivers.
After all, the right floor system is an investment, and you have every right to a strong return on that investment.
Concrete Moisture Issues and Installing a New Moisture Control System
In this case, our Lowell client contracted us to install a new, 1÷4” troweled epoxy mortar floor in the manufacturing area of their facility. Their goal was to create a long-term solution by investing in a floor system that was tough enough to withstand the demands of their environment.
Troweled epoxy mortar was definitely the right option!
Before we installed the system, however, we strongly advised our client to perform moisture test, just to be sure that there were no hidden issues that might compromise their flooring. The results revealed elevated moisture levels in the slab, making a mitigation system essential.
While this might seem like a setback, it’s actually a preventative measure that will ultimately save them a huge amount of production time and resources. After all, a proactive measure always costs less than a reactive response.
Building on a faulty foundation is never the right course of action.
How Do Moisture Mitigation Systems Work, and Why Are They So Crucial?
We have two in-depth resources that offer a closer look at both the moisture testing and remediation process.
First, be sure to read this article dedicated to the subject: Moisture Mitigation — The Nature of the Beast!
The brief videos below also offer a quick, helpful overview. And, of course, we invite you to contact us directly with any further questions!

Communication, Coordination and Containment: The “Three C’s” of a Successful Project
As we mentioned above, we were working in a busy production environment. To make sure we didn’t slow down their operations, we installed a floor-to-ceiling containment system, offering such an effective barrier that they could continue their work right next to our team! Any dust and material we generated was kept totally contained.
Our timeline really was dictated by the delivery of new equipment. We closely coordinated our schedule with our client’s, ensuring that the new floor was 100% complete and ready for the delivery.
